A message from the maker Michael Cutter

"In the spring of 2018 it all started with a simple desire to start blending my own loose incense powders which quickly grew into the passion that has joyfully consumed me in its fiery glow. I never really started with an intention to create a business, I simply followed my passion and interest in working with aromatics. This led to the dreams and visions from which these products came.

For many years, I used Japanese incense because of its purity and aesthetic, so when beginning to make my own sticks I naturally gravitated to this style of incense (the Japanese are widely considered to be the true masters of the craft). It is the simplest, purest form of self-combustible incense available. It is also the most difficult to master as there are many variables that must come together in delicate balance. I have spent hundreds of hours developing the blends and production methods to bring these products to you. I never use potassium nitrate or synthetic ingredients - only finely ground pure, natural resins, woods, and aromatics. All ingredients are either sustainably wild-crafted or non-gmo /certified organic.

It is my intention to make this incense available in the simplest, purest way possible to uplift the spirit, and bring healing to the mind and body. You can use this incense to aid in meditation and to connect with the inherent healing aspects of the natural world, create sacred space, cleanse energy, or simply relax and enjoy the aromatic bliss. I welcome your feedback to let me know how you are using them, what you like the most, and what else I can offer. Brightest blessings!"

The following is a poem from sixteenth century Japan

The Ten Virtues of Koh (incense)

  1. It brings communication with the transcendent.

  2. It refreshes mind and body.

  3. It removes impurity.

  4. It brings alertness.

  5. It is a companion in solitude.

  6. In the midst of busy affairs, it brings a moment of peace.

  7. When it is plentiful, one never tires of it.

  8. When there is little, still one is satisfied.

  9. Age does not change its efficacy.

  10. Used everyday, it does no harm.
